Yellow Birch Side Table
This table started with a stark Shaker design and sought to bring the viewer's gaze more forcefully toward the wood's source. The empty space in the middle of the top creates a vessel to hold remembrance of the material's earthly origin. The result of orienting the book matched live edge boards keeps all sides of the table a uniform dimension.

It is used for cord wood storage in the winter and a summer play house for the client's children when it's empty in the spring and summer, waiting for next years firewood.

Cross Country Skis
Traditional bent laminated cross country skis, additionally inspired by the refined utilitarian work of Walker Weed and Scandinavian tradition. This project combined traditional techniques with the profile and geometry of modern race skis, with dynamic material testing. These skis transformed the heated whirr of the milling machines into the timeless sound of waxed wood on snow transferring body power into efficient forward movement (Yes, they still work flawlessly after ten winters of heavy use).
